~ The Majestic Roar ~
Lower Falls in Yellowstone National Park.
From the main road leading to the lodge, there is a "loop" road which takes you to parking area and trail down to the overlook of the falls.
As I got to the entrance of the "loop" there was a Ranger truck blocking entrance with lights flashing. I went on ahead to the lodge and had a beer at the bar and asked why the loop was blocked. The bartender had not heard of any problems and did not know. I went back half way where there was an open meadow. I parked and walked across the meadow with my camera gear. When I got to the middle portion of the loop road I could see more rangers with lights flashing. I was listening for perhaps a helicopter if someone had gotten hurt but did not hear anything. I walked to the trailhead and proceeded to walk down to the point where I took the photo you see here.
Normally there would be perhaps 2,000 people in the area. I was the ONLY ONE here!! The only other thing I could think of was there must have been bears in the area and they evacuated. I set up and took several shots and the cautiously walked back carefully staying on cement or pavement to be as quiet as possible. I drove back to the lodge and had another beer and again inquired about what was happening. Yes, there were bears and thankfully I did not see them and they did not see me.
